For Sharethroughers, the company wide offsite our most highly anticipated company event of the year - and Sharethrough does it right.
For us, it’s more than just casual gathering or time for team-building exercises, it is a deliberate effort to create an environment where team members have the opportunity to connect with each other and align on the company's mission on a deeper level. Through engaging activities, collaborative discussions, and opportunities for personal and professional growth, our annual offsites foster a sense of community and belonging among team members… and this time, we took it to Mexico.
It's not every day that a company gets to pack their bags, leave the office behind, and head off to sunny Mexico for some much needed team-building activities! That's exactly what the Sharethrough crew did in early February. In this post, we cover how we brought together our remote-working employees from across North America and Europe to get together in-person for some vision alignment, team building collaboration, learning, brainstorming, and most importantly… some fun in the sun.
Kicking Off Sharethrough's 2023 Offsite
We kicked off the adventure with a presentation by our leadership team to share the 2023 Vision, Strategy & Main Objectives. As a company that is typically spread out across North America and Europe we feel that it is important to make time to gather everyone in the same room, sparking creativity and collaboration, creating alignment on our goals and seeing how we can help each other.
Imagine the excitement of finally putting faces to the names of colleagues you've only talked to over email, Slack or Zoom, or the thrill of bouncing ideas off each other in real-time! This kickoff allowed us to further our connections and relationships at the company, and even meet some of each other for the first time! It was an opportunity to laugh, connect, and get excited about the company's future.
OKRs, Presentations & Workshops
Learning new skills and refining knowledge is an important part of growing both as an individual and as a company. We wanted to give employees the chance to learn new skills and come away with some new key pieces of information. Traditionally at company offsites, Sharethrough employees are given the opportunity to create workshops and present them to the rest of the company. Workshops can be based on employee passions, expert knowledge, or key learnings that employees have learned throughout their career.
Eight Sharethrough employees came forward to share their knowledge and expertise by leading the following workshops:
1. Women and Allies: Imposter Syndrome Personality
Hosted by Kimberly Stone, Sales Development Director at Sharethrough
With a plan to kick start an ERG for Women in Tech, Kimberly brought her knowledge from her past experience and created a quiz on how to find out which Imposter Syndrome Personality everyone has and gave creative solutions on how to overcome those challenges!
2. Creating My Career Vision
Hosted by Greg MacDonald, Consultant and Founder of Chelsea Strategies
Greg took Sharethrough employees through an activity based workshop, which helping us prioritize what’s important to us when it comes to our career goals. Everyone left the workshop feeling they had heightened sense of purpose, and a clearer career vision!
3. Traveling For Work: Tips on How to Make the Most Out of Your Business Trip
Hosted by Wa’el Aboutanos, Business Development Director at Sharethrough
From the planning phase, to airport travel, communication with clients and organizing events - a ton of wise advice was given to Sharethroughers by Wa’el, who mastered the art of business trip throughout his career in Sales.
4. Understanding Carbon Emissions in Adtech and Why Speed of Action Matters
Hosted by Ben Skinazi, CMO at Sharethrough
When it comes to Sustainability, 2022 was a big year at Sharethrough. With the launch of our GreenPMP’s back in April 2022, Sharethrough has committed to working towards making ad tech sustainable, by offsetting the carbon emissions from ads. Ben Skinazi, CMO at Sharethrough showcased a workshop full of exciting content surrounding Carbon emissions in ad tech, and explained why now is the time to act on this.
5. Sustainable Practices: How to Integrate Changes to Help You Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Hosted by Luc Marsolais, COO at Sharethrough
With a workshop centered around helping employees reduce their own individual carbon footprints to become “zero waste.” Sharethrough’s COO, Luc Marsolais delivered a fantastic presentation with a variety of in-depth strategies and tactics to help employees make a difference environmentally both at home and on the road.
6. Google Workplace Kung Fu: Death by 1000 (Short)cuts
Hosted by Frank Maguire, VP of Insights and Strategy and Troy Parish, Manager of Information Technology at Sharethrough
Most of our work requires daily use with Google Workplace. Troy and Frank came up with a masterclass of a workshop, showcasing a list of shortcuts to help make our lives easier AND save us time!
7. Understanding User Research
Hosted by Karine Bourgault, Product Designer and Kevin Gentry, VP Product at Sharethrough
Understanding User Research took Sharethroughers on a product journey, with an in-depth presentation on the importance of user research, and a vast exploration of how it affects all aspects of a business. Sharethroughers got to experience user research first hand, with team activities and games.
After Work, We Play
And what better way to celebrate this hard work than with a volleyball tournament?! Everyone brought their A-game forward but ultimately, Team CTV were crowned champions and received gloating rights as the prize for winning the tournament.
After the volleyball tournament, Sharethroughers got to wind down and get ready for some highly anticipated face-to-face time with team members over dinner, after months of virtual communication since our previous September 2022 company-wide offsite in Montreal.
Stronger Together & In-Person
Our final day was kicked off by Evelyne Deschamps, Senior Business Partner, People and Culture and Stacy Parkinson, VP of People and Culture, as the duo hosted a presentation highlighting one of our core values; Stronger Together At Sharethrough: An Environment Where We All Belong.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is important to us at Sharethrough and we want to ensure that our efforts to make positive changes are at the forefront of our mind when planning our strategy and vision for 2023.
One of the biggest challenges of remote work is the lack of face-to-face interaction with coworkers. With so many faces in our company, it was crucial for us to break free from our usual Zoom calls and meet in person. Sharethrough truly believes in investing in quality employee events as it can provide opportunities for employees to network and develop relationships with their colleagues outside of their own team, and lead to improved communication and collaboration.
It's a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to teams outside of their own and get a glimpse into the challenges they face. But the best part? Finding solutions together and discovering just how much better we can be #StrongerTogether!
Our recent company offsite gave employees an opportunity to bond with their fellow team members and participate in some once in a lifetime activities such as paddleboarding, snorkeling, and cenote exploring. These fun and adventurous activities further helped team members get to know each other, build stronger relationships and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The Sharethrough Values Awards
The trip ended with a bang, as we gathered for an awards night dinner honoring the Sharethroughers who best represented our core values in 2022. It was a chance for us to come together, celebrate each other's achievements, and reinforce the bonds we had formed over the past week.
A Caring Company Culture
Company culture is at the heart of everything we do at Sharethrough, and this offsite was the perfect opportunity to celebrate that. From the moment we arrived, it was all about collaborating, team building, having fun and making memories together. We laughed, we explored, and we came back full of beautiful memories that will stay with us forever. Back to our daily workspaces, employees are collaborating and working together with folks outside their departments or geographic regions more and more.

Behind Headlines: 180 Seconds in Ad Tech is a short 3-minute podcast exploring the news in the digital advertising industry. Ad tech is a fast-growing industry with many updates happening daily. As it can be hard for most to keep up with the latest news, the Sharethrough team wanted to create an audio series compiling notable mentions each week.
